This is considered a high-strength retinoid. A great choice for those experienced with retinoid use and are already accustomed to its temporary side effects on the skin, such as flaking and peeling.
What is A-Ret Gel (tretinoin)?
A-Ret Gel (tretinoin) is a prescription-strength vitamin A retinoid used to treat acne, improve skin texture, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin tone. If you’re searching for a generic tretinoin gel or a generic alternative to Retin-A, A-Ret contains the same clinically proven active ingredient trusted by dermatologists for decades.
Tretinoin is the top treatment for comedonal acne (blackheads and whiteheads). By increasing skin-cell turnover, it helps clear clogged pores, prevent new breakouts, smooth rough texture, and refine the appearance of pores. It is also the only topical ingredient proven to reduce wrinkles long-term, making it effective for both acne and anti-aging routines.
Because tretinoin works on a cellular level, results happen gradually:
Acne improvement: typically visible in 8–12 weeks
Wrinkle + texture improvement: builds over 6–12 months
Temporary dryness, flaking, and irritation are normal early effects of increased cell turnover. These usually improve with consistent use.
How to Use A-Ret Gel
- Cleanse gently and pat skin dry.
- Wait 20–30 minutes before applying to ensure skin is fully dry (reduces irritation).
- Apply a thin layer of A-Ret Gel at night.
- Start with every other night or every third night, then increase as tolerated.
- Avoid the eyes, mouth corners, nostrils, and open or irritated skin.
- In the morning, cleanse and apply a gentle, water-based moisturizer.
- A small amount goes a long way. Do not wash the area for at least 1 hour after application.
Cautions & Important Information
