What Is Demelan Cream?
One of our favorites! Demelan Cream is an OTC depigmenting treatment formulated with glycolic acid, arbutin, and kojic acid to help reduce dark spots and uneven skin tone. It targets hyperpigmentation concerns such as melasma, sun damage, and post-inflammatory marks. This formula supports clearer, brighter, smoother-looking skin without hydroquinone. Because it also exfoliates the surface layer, the product helps refine texture, improve the look of pores, and soften fine lines for a healthier appearance.
How It Works
Each ingredient offers a different, science-supported benefit:
-
Glycolic acid accelerates exfoliation and improves surface renewal¹
-
Arbutin helps brighten skin and limit pigment formation
-
Kojic acid supports the reduction of discoloration by inhibiting melanin production
Together, these ingredients help fade pigmentation, even skin tone, smooth texture, and promote a more radiant complexion.
For more support, pair this cream with vitamin C serum or a glycolic acid cleanser to enhance clarity and brightness. See our other glycolic creams to compare strengths.
How to Use
Start gradually to support tolerance, especially if you are new to exfoliants.
Suggested routine:
-
Week 1: apply every other night
-
After Week 1: increase to once or twice daily as tolerated
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin and massage until absorbed. Continue until the treated areas appear closer in tone to surrounding skin. Visible improvement may begin in four weeks, with continued benefits over time.
Possible Side Effects
Some users may experience dryness, tightness, itching, or mild stinging — especially during the first few weeks. Because this product is formulated in a rich, emollient base, dryness and irritation typically improve over time.
For skin protection, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 30+) during the day and avoid prolonged sun exposure.
Avoid the eyelids, corners of the nose or mouth, and any irritated or damaged skin.
