More product information:

This is considered a high-strength retinoid. A great choice for those experienced with retinoid use and are already accustomed to its temporary side effects on the skin, such as flaking and peeling

What is Tazret Gel (tazarotene)?

Tazarotene is a third generation topical retinoid (like tretinoin) sold as a cream or gel and is approved for treatment of psoriasis, acne, and sun damaged skin (photodamage).

For best results apply cream once daily before bedtime after washing the face with a mild cleanser. We recommend using a moisturizer with tazarotene so skin will not be as dry and flaky.

How Do I apply It?

  • Apply tazarotene cream using a thin film to cover the lesions only (if using for psoriasis). If using for acne or anti-wrinkle regimen, apply a thin layer over face and allow to dry.
  • If a bath or shower is taken before applying this cream, make sure that the skin is dry before applying it.
  • Do not allow tazarotene cream to come into contact with unaffected skin.
  • Wash your hands immediately after using this cream unless you have psoriasis on your hands.

  • Do NOT use tazarotene cream if you are allergic to any ingredient in it, OR if you are pregnant or if you are able to become pregnant and are not using effective birth control.  And as with all retinoids: Do not breast-feed while taking tazarotene cream.
  • Tazarotene cream is for external use only.
  • Avoid using other topical medication, cosmetics, or other products that have a strong drying effect. If you have dry skin from using these products, allow your skin to “rest” before using it.
  • Do not use this cream on skin with eczema or for any condition other than that for which it is designed (for acne, psoriasis, or photodamage)
  • If you have a sunburn, do not use this cream on the sunburned skin until it has fully healed.
  • Weather extremes, such as windy or cold weather, may irritate your skin more while you are using tazarotene cream.
  • If you are using a cream or lotion to soften or moisten your skin, apply them at least 1 hour before applying tazarotene cream.
  • Tazarotene cream may cause harm if it is swallowed. If you may have taken it by mouth, contact your poison control center or emergency room right away.
  • Do not cover the treated area with dressings or bandages.
  • Tazarotene cream may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to it. Use a sunscreen (minimum 15 SPF) or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time. It should not be used if you are also taking other drugs that increase your sensitivity to sunlight (e.g., thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, sulfonamides)

Possible side effects of this cream: Burning; dry skin; irritation; itching; peeling; redness; scaling; skin inflammation; skin pain; stinging.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:  Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); severe or prolonged itching, burning, redness, or peeling; sunburn; swelling of the skin, hands, or feet; worsening of psoriasis.
